On Tuesday, CNBC’s Brian Sullivan appeared on MSNBC to discuss the possibility of the Dow Jones Industrial Average reaching an unprecedented 20,000 points.
NBC’s Willie Geist asked Sullivan if there was any evidence that the idea of Donald Trump as president has caused this bump in the market.
“Well, there is,” Sullivan responded. “Let’s be fair, this is not just about the president-elect. It’s about the GOP, sorta trifecta or hat trick whatever you want to call it, in general. If we get a reduction in corporate tax rates from 35 percent, second highest in the industrialized world, down to 20 or 25 percent, there’s a thought that a lot of cash will come back from overseas and that could provide a bump.”
