House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi appeared on CNN’s “State of the Union,” where she falsely declared that President Obama never ordered wiretapping of any America citizen.
CNN’s Jake Tapper had asked Pelosi about the accusation made by President Trump on Saturday, that former President Obama ordered Trump Tower to be wiretapped during the campaign. Trump has not provided evidence for his claim as of Sunday morning.
“I can tell you that’s just ridiculous for the president – President Trump – to say that President Obama would ever order any wiretap of an American citizen,” Pelosi told tapper.
Pelosi’s statement regarding Obama not wiretapping an American citizen is blatantly false.
In 2013, Obama’s Justice Department targeted several journalists with wiretaps including the Associated Press and Fox News’ James Rosen. Ironically, “these wiretaps were part of an investigation into government officials anonymously leaking information to journalists.”
For someone who has been very critical of the Trump administration for making false statements, Nancy Pelosi has been making a lot of false statements herself lately.
