This evening, NBC’s Matt Lauer is moderating The Commander-in-Chief Forum, which will focus on national security, military affairs, and veteran’s issues. Lauer, however, failed to disclose before the event began that he was a “notable past member” of the Clinton Global Initiative.
Lauer’s relationship with the Clintons extends beyond the Foundation, however. In 2010, Lauer also attended Bill Clinton’s 64th birthday party.
ABC’s George Stephanopoulos drew backlash from both sides of the aisle for not disclosing he was a Clinton Foundation donor to the American public. Stephanopoulos’ name was included with a list of all donors on the Foundation’s website. Stephanopoulos eventually had to issue an apology:
“I should have taken the extra step of personally disclosing my donations to my employer and to the viewers on air during the recent news stories about the Foundation. I apologize.”
