Judge Neil Gorsuch was successfully confirmed to the Supreme Court of the United States on Friday following a nearly 14-month vacancy on the court after Justice Antonin Scalia passed away in February of 2016.

Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) cast the decisive vote that pushed Gorsuch over the simple majority mark he needed to be confirmed by the United States Senate.

Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-KY) changed the Senate rules on Thursday to prevent a Democratic filibuster of the nomination.
