George Latimer failed to pay $46,000 in property taxes but has voted to increase taxes on his constituents repeatedly.

A new ad released by Republican Westchester County (NY) Executive Rob Astorino blasts his Democratic opponent George Latimer for raising taxes while failing to pay $46,000 in property taxes.

The ad begins with a news report about Latimer’s unpaid property taxes.

According to reports, Latimer failed to pay $46,000 in property taxes on a house owned by his wife. However, as a county legislator Latimer voted to increase his constituents’ property taxes.

“George Latimer failed to pay his taxes. But, never fails to raise ours,” the ad’s narrator says. “As a county legislator, Latimer voted to increase property taxes 46 percent.”

The ad’s narrator continued, “In Albany, he voted against the property tax cap. Now running for county executive, Latimer admits he would raise taxes again.”

“George Latimer raises our taxes but doesn’t pay his own,” the ad’s narrator concludes.

Latimer claims that he failed to pay the property taxes because “of an internal dispute with his wife’s family.”
