“Democrats promised affordable healthcare under Obamacare, but failed miserably.”
The National Republican Congressional Committee released a new web ad titled “Promise Broken” on Monday.
The ad highlights the failures of Obamacare and opens with a Fox News’ Greg Jarrett exclaiming how “the average premiums under Obamacare nationwide have doubled.”
“Obamacare policies are up an average of 105 percent between 2013 and 2017,” Fox News’ Martha MacCallum reported.
The ad then plays President Obama saying in 2008, “I also have a healthcare plan that would save the average family $2,500 on their premiums.”
This statement is then directly contradicted by Jarrett’s reporting that premiums have gone up an average of $3,000.
“Democrats promised affordable healthcare under Obamacare, but failed miserably,” said NRCC Communications Director Matt Gorman.
“Today, premiums are skyrocketing, insurers are pulling out, and the promises of Obamacare have been revealed as lies,” Gorman added. “Republicans are working hard to replace this failed law, while Democrats have doubled down.”
