A new poll from ABC News and The Washington Post shows that Democrats’ previous advantage heading into the 2018 midterms has all but disappeared, and Republicans may be more energized than Democrats.

The poll indicates that Democrats have just a two-point lead among those who voted in the last midterm election and intend to vote in the 2018. ABC News reported that the Democratic lead “fade[d] to insignificance” from previous highs:

Further revealed in the poll, Republicans may be more motivated to support President Trump with their votes than Democrats are spurred to oppose him:

Despite the seemingly constant protests against the president in major cities, Democratic energy is fading as Americans prepare for a critical midterm election.

Democratic leaders are hoping that a wave election in 2018 could hand them control of the House, but danger for the party lurks in the Senate, as Democrats are playing defense in several Trump states.
