The audience at CNN’s Democratic Leadership Debate appeared to hold back their applause for Rep. Keith Ellison (D-MA) when he was introduced at the forum Wednesday evening.
CNN first introduced former Labor Secretary Tom Perez, whose name was met with applause. Then Dana Bash introduced Ellison, who many are saying is a frontrunner with Perez for the chairmanship.
But when Bash announced Ellison’s name, the applause notably halted. Bash then introduced South Bend, Indiana Mayor Pete Buttigieg who, like Perez, was greeted with applause.
