He also pointed out that the Obama administration would have prosecuted the NSA leaker.
New York Times White House Correspondent Peter Baker said on MSNBC Tuesday that the Obama administration “went after journalists” for receiving information from leaks.
“The Obama team certainly took leaking very seriously,” Baker said. “That was obviously something that journalists were very concerned about.”
“Sometimes they went after journalists as well, put pressure on journalists about their sources,” he said.
Baker said that based on the Obama administration’s record, they would have also prosecuted NSA leaker Reality Leigh Winner. Federal officials charged Winner with leaking classified NSA documents to The Intercept.
