The New York Times Glenn Thrush said that his inbox had been flooded with emails from Democrats saying that Jon Ossoff was a “terrible candidate,” and pointed out how the party doesn’t have a bench.
Thrush made this comment during a panel discussion on MSNBC’s Morning Joe about where the Democratic Party goes following Ossoff’s failure to win Georgia’s Sixth Congressional District’s special election on Tuesday.
“My inbox this morning has been flooded by Democrats who are sort of saying Ossoff was a terrible candidate,” Thrush told the panel. “[Ossoff] was not electric, he was more static electric.”
Thrush didn’t limit his criticism to Ossoff alone, though, pointing out that the Democratic Party doesn’t have a bench nationally:
“I think the larger issue that we’re dealing with here right now is the fact that the Democrats just don’t have a lot of candidates, not just in Georgia but around the country in general.”
