Jonathan Gruber, an MIT economics professor – and the Obamacare architect who once said that “the stupidity of the American voter” helped Obamacare pass – said Tuesday on New Day that the GOP replacement plan will not make sense to elderly voters.
Host Alisyn Camerota said that elderly patients will have to pay more for health care, and questioned the logic of that provision of the GOP health care plan.
Co-host Chris Cuomo pointed out that elderly patients will have to pay more because of they use more health care.
Gruber said that this argument will not make sense to elderly voters, “especially when you realize the third group, which is the sick.”
Gruber then pivoted to speaking about insurance for poor patients, avoiding further discussion of elderly voters.
