Paul Ryan: I Think Some Democrats Will Help on Tax Reform

The House speaker isn’t holding out much hope for Elizabeth Warren’s vote, however.

House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-WI) predicted that some congressional Democrats, especially those from industrial states, would join Republicans to help with an overhaul of the tax code.

“I think sort of, the Bernie Sanders-Elizabeth Warren wing of the party – the liberal progressive wing – they won’t touch this,” Ryan said.

“There are going to be some more moderates coming from states that are manufacturing states like North Dakota or Missouri or Indiana” that would help pass the legislation, he predicted.

Ryan then said that Americans “are shooting ourselves in the foot” with the current tax code.
