The Republican speaker of the House has raised $39 million for House Republicans in 2017.
Speaker Paul Ryan (R-WI) has raised $39 million for House Republicans during the first ten months of 2017 – $6 million of that coming during the third quarter of 2017 – according to Politico‘s Playbook.
A political aide to Ryan told Playbook that, “in 2017, Speaker Ryan has traveled to 30 states, nearly 65 cities, and has done almost 250 events on the road to help raise funds for Team Ryan, the NRCC, and members of the GOP conference.”
Despite this hectic travel schedule, Ryan still doesn’t travel on weekends, spending that time at home in southern Wisconsin.
Of the $39 million that Ryan has raised, nearly $30 million has gone to the National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC).
The NRCC “has shattered its non-election year fundraising record in the first three quarters of 2017,” raising $72 million in 2017, “meaning almost half the money came from” Ryan.
Playbook reported that Ryan doesn’t intend to slow down either: “during the upcoming recess week, Ryan will spend time in Wisconsin meeting with constituents, and then will travel to Texas and New York to raise additional funds.”
