A staffer was forced to hand Pelosi a note so that she could correct her mistake.
House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) yet again referred to President Trump as “President Bush” at a press conference on Capitol Hill Friday morning. Further undercutting her own argument, Pelosi even added that the president “needs sleep.”
A reporter asked Pelosi what her reaction was to President Trump saying he feels “totally vindicated” after former FBI Director James Comey’s testimony on Thursday.
“No, I don’t see it that way at all, but I do see that he might see it that way,” Pelosi responded.
“He operates this way: first he tries to charm you. President Bush tries to charm you,” Pelosi said, clearly misspeaking.
The reporter interjected to correct Pelosi.
Pelosi concluded her answer by saying, “[Trump] needs sleep.”
Later in the press conference, a staffer handed Pelosi a note which must have informed her of her mistake.
“I said President Bush. I’m sorry, I meant to say – it’s hard for me to say it. Poor President Bush, I apologize,” Pelosi said while pointing around in confusion.
