Sen. Luther Strange (R-AL) is closing the gap on his controversial runoff opponent, ex-Alabama Chief Justice Roy Moore, according to a poll released by Raycom News Network and Strategy Research on Tuesday night.

The poll found Moore leading Strange by only six points, 53 percent to 47 percent, within the poll’s margin of error.

It’s the second straight poll showing Strange within single digits of Moore, after JMC Analytics found Strange had narrowed a 14-point gap with Moore to only eight points.

The RealClearPolitics average of polls has Moore up 8.8 points, though that will narrow when they add the Raycom poll.

The runoff is on Tuesday, September 26.
