Protests erupted following the acquittal of a St. Louis police officer in the killing of a black man.
Following the acquittal of a former St. Louis police officer in the killing of a black man, protests erupted in the Missouri city. Confrontations between police and protesters turned tense at times.
A livestream from local activist “Rebelutionary_Z” showed protesters surrounding a bus full of police officers and throwing water bottles at vehicles as it tried to pull away.
Masked protesters yelled at the bus, and eventually police disembarked in an effort to clear the protesters surrounding the bus.
“Get back in there! Get back in there!” one shouted at the police.
The police eventually formed riot lines to control the protesters.
According to Fox News, Gov. Eric Greitens (R-MO) activated the National Guard in anticipation of protests in reaction to the verdict.
