QUICK TAKE: Clinton Brings the Khan Family Back

In a somber new ad, Khazir Khan asks Donald Trump, “Would my son have a place in your America?”

The Khan family

One of Hillary Clinton’s most effective surrogates has been the Khan family. After Khizr Khan – father of slain Muslim-American soldier, Capt. Humayun Khan – condemned Trump’s views on Muslims at the DNC, Trump engaged in a fight that saw him dip in the polls.

At the time, a Fox News poll found 69% of Americans thought Trump’s feud with the Khans – a Gold Star family – was “out of bounds.”

In a hard-hitting new ad, Khizr Khan talks about his son and Trump:

Khan tears up at the end as he asks of Trump, “Would my son have a place in your America?”

Multiple reporters, including WaPo’s Chris Cillizza, called the ad “powerful. Some, on the other hand, asked if the ad will bait Trump back into a fight with the Khan family.
