QUICK TAKE: Perdue Blasts Obama, Clinton on Syrian War

In a searing op-ed for Time, Sen. David Perdue (R-GA) talks about his trips to refugee camps and blasts President Obama and Secretary Clinton for their inaction.

Sen. David Perdue

Sen. David Perdue wrote an op-ed for Time today that highlights the growing conflict in Syria (particularly the rebel-held portion of Aleppo).

Perdue points to his experience visiting “areas of conflict” where refugees live, and called attention to the “weaponization” of refugees:

Russian President Vladimir Putin, further emboldened by the failed “Russia reset,” has decided not to help the world’s most vulnerable and instead worsen their plight.

The criticism is timely, what with the U.S. suspending its bilateral talks with Russia today. This came after repeated warnings from Secretary of State John Kerry, as Russia continues bombing Aleppo alongside Bashar al-Assad’s regime.

Perdue closed his op-ed, though, by blasting President Obama and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton for not being tough enough with Russia and Syria:

We need a change from President Obama and Hillary Clinton’s failed Syria policy. Their unwillingness to take a stronger stand on Syria has left the war-torn nation worse off, leaving an open door for Iran and Russia and allowing a murderous dictator to remain as president.

Perdue is one of many Republicans speaking out on administration inaction agianst Syria and Russia, but his critique is one of the more biting pieces out there.
