Chicago’s Democratic Mayor admitted that scandals are just a feature of the Clinton show.
Chicago Mayor Rham Emanuel said on David Axelrod’s podcast on Friday that scandals and controversies are simply a part of former President Bill Clinton’s story.
Axelrod and Emanuel used coded language to discuss Clinton’s propensity to engage in controversial behavior.
“What is it about Bill Clinton, you know him very well, that causes him to fly so close to the sun?” Axelrod asked.
“Is he going to hear this podcast?” Emanuel joked back.
Emanuel then dodged, offering some answer about winning elections and the thrill that such an event gave the former president.
Axelrod pressed, “So surviving not just elections, but sort of challenges of all sort, including self-induced crises…?”
“Either way, he seeks them out or they seek him out, but somehow that’s where he goes,” Emanuel added.
Axelrod commented that there was “a ‘Dukes of Hazzard’ quality” to Clinton’s exploits.
Emanuel served in both the Clinton and Obama administrations.
