Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) called Sen. John McCain “past his prime” and “unhinged” during an interview on MSNBC’s Morning Joe on Tuesday.
Paul was responding to an accusation made by McCain on the Senate Floor on Wednesday that Paul was working for Vladimir Putin.
McCain was upset that Paul was attempting to block a vote allowing the nation of Montenegro to join NATO, something that the vast majority of Senator agreed with.
NBC’s Willie Geist asked Paul to respond McCain’s accusation.
“You know, I think he makes a really, really strong case for, you know, term limits. I think maybe he’s past his prime. I think maybe he’s gotten a little bit unhinged,” Paul said of McCain, who spent five and a half years as a prisoner of war in North Vietnam.
