The Democratic congressman joins Maxine Waters in calling to remove the president from office.
Rep. Al Green (D-TX) called for Congress to begin impeachment proceedings against President Trump in an interview with MSNBC’s Stephanie Rhule on Monday.
Green had released a statement earlier in the day calling for the process to begin, but explained his reasoning on MSNBC.
“The president has committed acts that are impeachable,” Green said, referencing the dismissal of FBI Director James Comey.
Green said that “the president will be found guilty if we get [impeachment] to the Senate.”
“Impeachment is a proper process to engage in. The Constitution permits it and we should engage,” the Texas congressman concluded.
Rep. Maxine Waters (D-CA) has been alone on the congressional frontline of calling for Trump’s impeachment. She will now find company from Green.
