Trump could see a challenge from a bipartisan ticket in 2020.
According to CNN sources, Govs. John Kasich (R-OH) and John Hickenlooper (D-CO) are considering forming a “unity” ticket to challenge President Trump in 2020.
Axios broke the news Friday morning, with CNN confirming.
The Axios report indicated that Kasich would run “at the top of the ticket.”
The two governors in recent months have worked together on coming up with fixes to health care in the wake of the collapse of GOP efforts to reform the current system.
Axios also reported that Democrats were opposed to the pairing:
Some establishment Dems are apoplectic about the idea of Hickenlooper teaming up with a Republican. One top strategist told me: “No Dem wants Kasich anywhere near our ticket. Sounds like a No Labels fantasy, but moderate Dems would hate it.”
