Republican Senators Rebuke Trump Tweet About ‘Morning Joe’ Hosts

Sens. Ben Sasse (R-NE), Susan Collins (R-ME), Lindsey Graham (R-SC) and several others criticized President Trump for his tweets about “Morning Joe” host Mika Brzezinski.

Three Republican senators have taken to Twitter to rebuke President Trump for a two-part tweet in which he criticized “Morning Joe” hosts Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski.

Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) called out Trump first, calling the comments “what is wrong with American politics.”

Minutes later, Sen. Ben Sasse (R-NE) called out Trump, pleading with the president to “just stop.”

About an hour later, Sen. Susan Collins (R-ME) tweeted her agreement with Sasse that Trump’s rhetoric “must stop,” noting “we must show respect and civility.” Collins is a senator the president’s team is currently trying to win over for passage of the Republican health care bill.

Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) blasted the remarks in an interview as “hard to understand, and not presidential” and noted that parents will have a tough job explaining these tweets to their children:
