The GOP released a video exposing Democrats’ conflicting statements regarding FBI Director Comey, playing the clips side-by-side.
The Republican National Committee (RNC) posted a video on Thursday showing the flip-flops of prominent Democrats on the status of FBI Director James Comey. The changes in position come in the wake of President Trump’s dismissal of Comey.
The video features Reps. Maxine Waters (D-CA), Jerrold Nadler (D-NY), Adam Schiff (D-CA), and Elijah Cummings (D-MD), along with Sen. Tim Kaine (D-VA).
The video first plays their comments prior to Trump’s dismissal of Comey, slamming the FBI director. It then moves to their comments following the firing. They all criticized Trump for doing what they had previously suggested.
For example, Nadler, in the wake of the 2016 election, called for Comey to be fired “immediately.”
The video then plays a clip of Nadler from Wednesday calling Trump’s firing of Comey “a direct attack on the democracy of the United States.”
Waters closed out the video saying that Trump should not have fired Comey, but Hillary Clinton should have fired the director, had she won the presidency.
White House Deputy Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders also cited instances of Democratic flip-flopping on Comey at the White House press briefing on Thursday.
