Lavrov mocked MSNBC’s Andrea Mitchell for asking about FBI Director James Comey’s firing.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov mocked MSNBC’s Andrea Mitchell for asking about FBI Director James Comey’s firing at a meeting with Secretary of State Rex Tillerson on Wednesday morning.
After Tillerson thanked Lavrov for journeying to Washington, Mitchell shouted a question asking if Comey’s firing “cast a shadow over talks” between the two countries.
“Was he fired?” Lavrov asked.
“You are kidding! You are kidding!” Lavrov said. A grin crept across his face as he turned away.
As Tillerson and Lavrov exited the room, Tillerson raised his arms slightly in a gesture that may have expressed exasperation, as he turned and said something to Lavrov.
