A family business linked to ‘Mexico Joe,’ Stewart Superior Corp., has outsourced manufacturing jobs to Mexico.
Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) seemed to forget that Sen. Joe Donnelly (D-IN) is responsible for outsourcing jobs to Mexico during a speech in Indiana on Monday, when Sanders bragged about working with Donnelly to punish companies that shipped jobs overseas.
“When the Defense Authorization Bill comes before the Senate … I will be working with your Senator Joe Donnelly to make certain that those companies all across this country who are throwing American workers out on the street,” Sanders told the crowd, “going to Mexico, going to China, they are last in line to get contracts from the federal government.”
Donnelly, who is up for re-election in 2018, has earned the nickname ‘Mexico Joe’ because a business linked to his family, Stewart Superior Corp, has outsourced manufacturing jobs to Mexico.
According to a May 2017 financial disclosure form, Donnelly owns $50,000 in Stewart Superior Corp. stock, which yielded Donnelly between $15,001 and $50,000 of income in 2016.
