The White House pointed out that many top Democrats used to sing a different tune on the FBI director.
At a press briefing on Thursday, White House Deputy Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders listed out all the Democrats who have flipped their views on James Comey following President Trump’s dismissal of the FBI director.
ABC’s Jonathan Karl asked Sanders if the vice president had been “in the dark” on Trump’s decision to fire Comey.
“If we want to talk about contradicting statements and people that were maybe in the dark, how about the Democrats?” Sanders asked.
She then proceeded to list out Democrats like Chuck Schumer, Harry Reid, Bernie Sanders, and Nancy Pelosi, who all slammed Comey for his performance as FBI director.
Sanders called it “sad” that Democrats took something “we all should have agreed on” and turned it into a partisan issue. Sanders did not address the fact that several Republicans also announced their concerns with the Comey firing, including Senate Intelligence Chairman Richard Burr.
