Kelly said that Trump has been holding fast to his signature promise to build a wall along the U.S.-Mexico border and will insist on funding for the project.
Department of Homeland Security Secretary John Kelly said on CNN Sunday that President Trump has been holding fast to his signature promise to build a wall along the U.S.-Mexico border and will insist on funding for the project.
“The president has been pretty straightforward about his desire and the need for a border wall,” Kelly told CNN’s Dana Bash. “He will be insistent on the funding.”
Kelly chalked up border politicians’ opposition to wall funding as “just politics.”
“Many of these issues would go away if the same people that we’re talking about, the legislators in Washington, would take a long, hard look at immigration, immigration laws and do what is necessary,” Kelly added.
