Secretary of Homeland Security General John Kelly informed Congress that a U.S. Court of Appeals upholding a lower court’s temporary restraining order of President Trump’s travel ban might have put Americans at risk.
Rep. Bennie Thompson (D-MS) asked Secretary Kelly if he agreed with President Trump’s tweet that claimed, “Just cannot believe a judge would put our country in such peril. If something happens blame him and court system. People pouring in. Bad!”
“It’s certainly entirely possible,” Kelly informed Rep. Thompson. “The whole reason for this pause is to get our arms around the term ‘vetting.'”
Kelly concluded by stating again that it is entirely possible that bad actors have gotten into America because of this judge’s order.
