Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) told CNN’s Anderson Cooper that he believed President Trump’s strike on Syria was, “actually a tactical action that furthers an objective which is important,” during an interview on Thursday.
These comments came after the United States military launched missile strikes on a military base that was responsible for launching a chemical weapons attack on Syrian civilians earlier this week.
Rubio had previously been critical of both the Obama and Trump administration’s handling of the crisis in Syria.
Anderson Cooper asked Rubio if he would like to see more airstrikes.
“Well, first of all, it is a significant step,” Rubio told Cooper. “This actually achieved a strategic objective, and it’s a significant degrading of [Syria’s] capabilities in the air. They don’t have a hundred airfields they can launch operations from.”
