The attorney general wouldn't say if he had been scheduled for an interview, though.

Attorney General Jeff Sessions denied that he had ever been interviewed by Special Counsel Robert Mueller in connection to the Russia investigation or the firing of former FBI Director James Comey at a Senate oversight hearing on Wednesday.

Sen. Patrick Leahy (D-VT) asked Sessions if he had been interviewed “or been requested to be interviewed” by Mueller at the hearing.

The attorney general at first paused, unsure if he should answer the question.

“You’ll have to ask the special counsel that,” he then said.

“No, I’m asking you,” Leahy shot back.

Sessions responded that he wasn’t sure if he could answer the question, given the status of the investigation.

“Have you been interviewed?” Leahy asked.

The attorney general then denied that he had ever been interviewed by the special counsel.
