Sean Spicer laid out the stakes for a House vote on the American Health Care Act (AHCA), or ‘Trumpcare,’ at a March 22 press briefing.
At a White House press briefing on Wednesday, Press Secretary Sean Spicer laid out the stakes for the House vote on the American Health Care Act (AHCA) – or ‘Trumpcare’ – this coming Thursday, saying “if you want to see Obamacare repealed and replaced, this is the vote.”
A reporter had asked Spicer if Speaker Paul Ryan should pull the bill if they don’t have “the magic number” to pass the bill.
“This is it,” Spicer replied. “If you want to see Obamacare repealed and replaced, this is the vote. This is the time to act.”
“If you’re waiting for your chance, this is it,” Spicer concluded. “We need to act.”
A spokesman for the House Freedom Caucus said on Wednesday that there are “more than 25 Freedom Caucus ‘No’s’ on AHCA.” The House cannot afford to lose more than 22 Republican votes.
