Sean Spicer made the comments to NBC News’ Hallie Jackson in a press briefing on March 21.
At Tuesday’s White House press briefing, Press Secretary Sean Spicer told a reporter her counting is “like CBO.”
NBC News’ Hallie Jackson was asking Spicer about the American Health Care Act (AHCA) – also known as ‘Trumpcare’ – and if the president will remember the names of Republicans who don’t back the bill.
Spicer laughed and remarked: “I love your counting, it’s like CBO.” Spicer was referring to the Congressional Budget Office (CBO), whose estimates on AHCA White House officials have disputed as of late.
Reporters in the room laughed and groaned, while Jackson flashed a surprised look.
Spicer cut in among the laughing: “Sorry. C’mon, that was,” before trailing off. Jackson looked nonplussed.
“You wanna elaborate on that one?” Jackson asked.
“No, I don’t,” Spicer replied.
Jackson moved on to her next question.
