Steyer Doesn’t Rule Out A Run Against Feinstein

In recent weeks, Feinstein has faced pressure from progressive activists, who feel the Senator is out of touch.

Billionaire environmentalist and Democratic donor Tom Steyer isn’t ruling out a run against Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) in 2018, according to reports.

In recent weeks Feinstein has faced increased pressure from progressive activists who think the Senator is out of touch and are calling for a progressive candidate to challenge in the incumbent Senator in 2018.

Capital Public Radio’s Ben Adler tweeted on Tuesday:

However, Steyer attempted to walk back these remarks according to the Los Angeles Times:

Steyer quickly added that he hates answering speculative questions such as the one posed to him because there’s always a chance it might “bite you in the rear end.”

“I’d rather come out with what I do want to do as opposed to eliminating all the things I don’t want to do,” he told Adler.

Steyer had previously contemplated running for governor of California in 2018.
