Texans Overwhelmingly Approve Trump’s Handling of Hurricane Harvey

57% of Texans approve of the job the federal government did following Hurricane Harvey.

A University of Texas/Texas Tribune poll found a majority of Texans approve of the job the federal government did following the devastation caused by Hurricane Harvey.

The poll, which surveyed 1,200 registered voters, found 57 percent of Texans approve of the job the federal government did following Harvey, compared to just 20 percent who disapprove.

Texans are also happy with the job the state government has done following Hurricane Harvey, with 68 percent saying they approve of the job compared to just 13 percent who disapprove.

As for work that still needs to be done following Harvey, the poll also found that “Texans want federal, state and local officials to focus on debris cleanup and disposal, housing, public health and environmental contamination.”

The only organizations that didn’t achieve a majority of support from Texans for their response to Hurricane Harvey were the news media and insurance companies.

A University of Texas/Texas Tribune poll released on Thursday also showed “support among Texas Republicans remains robust” for President Trump.
