Cavaliers star LeBron James has been supportive of NFL players who have taken a knee during the national anthem.

The Cleveland Cavaliers elected to protest the national anthem to start the NBA season by locking arms during the song on Monday.

The Cavaliers, who were playing the Boston Celtics, elected to stand for the national anthem in a sign of solidarity with NFL players who have been kneeling during the anthem to protest police injustice.

There was speculation whether NBA players would protest the anthem given league rules, which clearly state that players must stand during the anthem. It is unclear if the NBA will penalize the entire Cavaliers team for their actions.
