The Obamas: Lifestyles of the Rich & Famous

The former first family has adapted well to their rich and famous lifestyle since leaving the White House.

The Obamas have been living it up since moving out of 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue in January, and Americans might not recognize the community organizer from the South Side of Chicago anymore.

The former first couple has been seen vacationing with celebrities while traveling to some of the world’s most exotic locations.

They’ve also been rumored to be interested in buying multiple multimillion-dollar properties across America. And then there is the growing list of country club memberships the former first family is racking up.

Timeline of the Obamas vacations:

After leaving the White House in January, the Obamas went right to Southern California for a much-needed vacation. They followed that up by going to Sir Richard Branson private island, where Barack Obama was photographed kitesurfing.

In March, Obama visited his home state of Hawaii, which was followed by a visit to, “Tetiaroa, an island previously owned by Marlon Brando,” to work on his White House memoir.

Then in April, the former first couple partied on David Geffen’s yacht with Oprah, Tom Hanks, and Bruce Springsteen.

After that, it was off to Tuscany for the former first couple. In June they journeyed to Indonesia and “paddled their way down the Ayung River.”

The Obamas new homes:

If the Obama’s rockstar-like vacationing doesn’t do it for you, then their property purchases most certainly will.

Since leaving the White House in January, the Obamas purchased a $8.1 million mansion in Washington, D.C.

But, the Obamas are rumored to be interested in buying other multimillion-dollar properties.

According to the Boston Globe, the Obamas are reportedly interested in buying one of two parcels of land owned by the Kennedy family that range in price from $12 – $15 million on the exclusive New England island of Martha’s Vineyard.

If that wasn’t enough, the Obamas are also reportedly interested in an apartment in the historic 10 Gracie Square on the Upper East Side of Manhattan.

Page Six estimated that the apartment could cost as much as $10 million.

Barack Obama’s country club memberships:

Then there are former President Obama’s country club memberships, since leaving office in January Barack Obama has joined three country clubs in Washington D.C. area.

Obama most recently joined the Army Navy Country Club paying an initiation fee of roughly $75,000 to join. Obama is also a member of Columbia Country Club in Chevy Chase and Robert Trent Jones Golf Club in Gainesville, Virginia.

It hasn’t even been ten months since the Obamas left the White House, but it didn’t take long for them to become accustomed to the lifestyles of the rich and famous.
