Tillerson Responds to Reports That He Called Trump a ‘Moron’

The secretary of state said that he is committed to the president and making America great again.

Secretary of State Rex Tillerson praised President Trump’s agenda and reiterated his commitment to the president’s agenda at an impromptu press conference on Wednesday, while not explicitly denying reports that he called President Trump a “moron.”

“President Trump and his administration will keep moving forward as one team with one mission, doing great things for the United States of America to make America great again,” Tillerson said, after recounting all of the administration’s foreign policy successes.

The secretary categorically denied that he ever considered that he had ever considered resigning, or that Vice President Mike Pence had to convince him to continue to head the state department.

But when the conversation with reporters turned to allegations that he had called the president a “moron,” Tillerson dodged.

“I’m not going to deal with petty stuff like that,” he said. “This is what I don’t understand about Washington. I’m not from this place, but the places I come from, we don’t deal with that kind of petty nonsense.”
