Tim Kaine Says Trump Jr. Meeting May Be ‘Treason’

The former vice presidential candidate said this is now a “treason investigation.”

Sen. Tim Kaine (D-VA), Hillary Clinton’s running mate in the 2016 election, told reporters on Tuesday that President Trump’s son, Donald Trump Jr., may have committed “treason” by meeting with a Kremlin-connected lawyer.

“We are beyond obstruction of justice. This is moving into perjury, false statements and even potentially treason,” Kaine said.

He also said told the reporters that the investigation “is now a treason investigation.”

The U.S. Constitution defines treason:

Treason against the United States, shall consist only in levying War against them, or in adhering to their Enemies, giving them Aid and Comfort. No Person shall be convicted of Treason unless on the Testimony of two Witnesses to the same overt Act, or on Confession in open Court.
