Brokaw: Democrats need to rebuild their party, not oppose President Trump at every turn.
NBC’s Tom Brokaw said the Democratic Party needs to pick its fights better, citing President Trump’s nomination of Judge Neil Gorsuch to serve on the Supreme Court as a losing battle for the party.
“There is going to be a big pushback about Judge Gorsuch on the part of the Democrats,” Brokaw told the panel on Morning Joe. “The fact is that this man has a very distinguished background in the judicial world.”
Brokaw said of Judge Gorsuch’s qualifications, “I have friends in the federal judiciary who don’t agree with his philosophy but say there is not a better judge in the federal circuit right now than him, so why pick that as a fight?”
“The other thing is the Democrats have a lot of reconstruction to do of their own party, and that is what they ought to be thinking about, and that is where they should be beginning,” Brokaw went on to say, about the Democratic Party as a whole.
MSNBC’s Joe Scarborough interrupted Brokaw when he started to become critical of House Democrats for re-electing Nancy Pelosi as minority leader after failing to reclaim the House for three elections in a row.
