Legendary newsman Tom Brokaw was very critical of this week’s protests at UC Berkeley, saying they were just short of anarchy in his judgment during an interview on MSNBC’s Morning Joe.

On Wednesday, protests turned violent at UC Berkeley over an event featuring Breitbart journalist Milo Yiannopoulos.

“Well, looking at Berkeley, which was just short of anarchy in my judgment, it was so reminiscent of what I was doing in 1966, ’67, and ’68 – I spent a lot of time on that campus,” Brokaw said.

Of the student protesters, Brokaw said: “They go to one of the great universities in the world. They are privileged people at that university. And they can’t hear somebody who comes and has a message that is completely contrary to what anybody else wants to hear but is allowed to speak on the campus? I think it’s outrageous, quite honestly, and I think it is contrary to what they are attempting to do.”
