“We need to win elections,” the DNC Chair told CNN’s Wolf Blitzer during an interview on Monday.
Democratic National Committee (DNC) Chair Tom Perez wouldn’t say whether the party needed new leadership during an interview with CNN’s Wolf Blitzer on Monday.
Blitzer asked Perez if the Democratic Party needed “new blood” to retake the seats the party lost in the last several elections.
“We need to organize in every state. We’ve returned to what Howard Dean has talked about a 50-state strategy. We need to lead with our values,” Perez responded. “We believe everybody is entitled to punch their ticket to the middle class, we believe that health care is a right for all and not a privilege for the few.”
Blitzer followed up by asking Perez again whether Democrats need new blood and new energy to make gains in the upcoming elections.
“We need to win elections,” Perez told Blitzer.
Perez then talked about how the DNC is invested in winning the upcoming gubernatorial elections in Virginia and New Jersey.
The DNC chair has made a habit of avoiding questions about the party needing new leadership, and during a recent interview on WFAA-TV, Perez would not answer questions regarding House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) stepping down from her leadership position.
