The President said that he would never ask the FBI to stop investigating Russia’s involvement in the 2016 election.
President Trump, in an interview with NBC’s Lester Holt on Thursday, denied that he or any of his associates had ever asked fired FBI Director James Comey to drop the investigation into the Trump campaign’s ties to Russia.
“In fact, I want the investigation speeded up,” Trump said.
“I want to find out if there was a problem with an election having to do with Russia or by the way anybody else,” the President said.
However, Trump said that he wanted a “really competent, capable Director,” before calling Comey a “showboater.”
As for the candidates to replace Comey, Trump said they “could be spectacular.”
