President Trump, while meeting with Republican lawmakers Friday, offered a strong endorsement of the American Health Care Act (AHCA), saying he backed the proposed law “100 percent.”
According to Trump, GOP lawmakers who had previously opposed the bill now support it after meeting with the president. “All of these nos,” Trump said, pointing to the representatives, “are all yeses, every single person in this room is now a yes.”
Trump warned, however, that the positive effects of the AHCA would take a while to start benefiting the American people. Given the failing current health care system though, according to Trump, the reform bill was well worth it.
Trump also took a shot at the press, “I want everybody to know that the press has not been speaking properly about how great this is going to be. They have not been giving it the fair press. The press is, well as you know, in many cases I call it ‘the fake news.'”
