The war of words between Kim and Trump continues to escalate.
President Trump promised to devastate North Korea at a press conference on Tuesday, if the communist dictatorship takes steps to shoot down U.S. military planes in international airspace.
Addressing comments from the DPRK’s foreign minister threatening just that, Trump said the United States is prepared to deploy the military option, referring to it as “the second option.”
“We are totally prepared for the second option. Not a preferred option, but if we take that option, it will be devastating [for North Korea],” he said.
“[North Korean leader Kim Jong-un’s] acting very badly. He’s saying things that should never ever be said,” Trump added.
The president also complained that previous administrations had not dealt with the North Korean problem: “North Korea is a situation that should have been handled 25 years ago, 20 years ago, 15 years ago, 10 years ago, and five years ago, and it could have been handled much more easily. You had various administrations, many administrations which left me a mess.”
“I’ll fix the mess,” he told the press.
