In a cryptic statement, and possible warning to Republican defectors on the American Health Care Act (AHCA), President Trump said that “we learned a lot about loyalty” following the failure of the bill.
Following the Republican leadership’s failure to corral enough votes in their conference to guarantee passage of the bill, President Trump spoke to reporters in the Oval Office.
“I think this is something that was certainly an interesting period of time. We all learned a lot,” Trump said. “We learned a lot about loyalty.”
Trump predicted that the whole saga would eventually lead to “a better health care plan.”
His statement about loyalty, however, could foreshadow a possible willingness to punish members of his party that reject his agenda.
