The President emphasized the importance of fighting ISIS with global partners.
President Trump spoke out about his controversial meeting with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov at a joint statement with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan on Tuesday.
“We had a very, very successful meeting with the Foreign Minister of Russia,” Trump said.
“Our fight is against ISIS,” the president emphasized.
Trump said that his goal was to get “as many [countries together] to help fight terrorism as possible.”
The president then drew a line to the U.S. friendship with Turkey and highlighted their partnership in combatting ISIS.
Reporters shouted questions about specifics of the meeting at Trump as he left, but he declined to answer.
