Trump to Tillerson: Stop the Diplomatic Efforts With North Korea

Did President Trump take the U.S. a step closer to war with North Korea over the weekend?

In a series of weekend tweets, President Trump instructed his top diplomat, Secretary of State Rex Tillerson, to cease all talks or negotiations with Kim Jong-un and the North Korean regime.

Since Tillerson has been seeking peaceful solutions to the lengthy U.S.-North Korea standoff, Trump’s tweets made be read as a step in the direction of a military confrontation between the U.S. and the rogue, hermit nation.

Trump also suggested his predecessors – Bill Clinton, George W. Bush, and Barack Obama – have all failed to rein in North Korea, and that he will succeed.

The tweets come as North Korea receives a boost in its cyber capabilities, gaining access to “somewhere between a few hundred and just over 1,000” new Internet connections through a Russian company called TransTeleCom.

North Korea was also recently caught trying to sell weapons to Egypt in a covert manner, according to The Washington Post.
