Marc Kasowitz accused the former FBI director of leaking privileged information.
Marc Kasowitz, President Trump’s personal lawyer, accused former FBI Director James Comey or leaking privileged communications between Comey and the president at a press conference on Thursday.
“There have been and continue to be those in government who are actively attempting to undermine this administration with selective and illegal leaks of classified information and privileged communications,” Kasowitz said.
He then accused the former FBI director of being “one of these leakers.”
“Mr. Comey admitted that he unilaterally and surreptitiously made unauthorized disclosures to the press of privileged communications with the president,” Kasowitz said.
Kasowitz quoted Comey’s earlier testimony, pointing out that he had leaked this information to “prompt the appointment of a special counsel.”
Comey’s action “appears to be entirely retaliatory,” according to Kasowitz.
