Speaking with CNN’s Brooke Baldwin Monday, Rep. Maxine Waters (D-CA) doubled down on her earlier calls for President Trump’s impeachment.
Citing Russian hacking and Trump’s refusal to release his tax returns, Waters called the current era “unusual” and said Congress should be prepared for the process of impeachment.
“We have to find out more about [Trump] and some of that I think leads to the possibility of impeachment,” Waters said.
Baldwin pointed out the ridiculousness of calling for Trump’s impeachment so early in his presidency. “You do have to find evidence before using such a huge word, such a tremendous word as [impeachment],” Baldwin also said.
Waters only responded with a repetition of “No” over and over.
Throughout the interview, Waters offered no evidence of Trump committing “high Crimes or misdemeanors,” the Constitution’s criteria for impeachment of a president.
